Who we are

Kompanion is operated by Kanslo Oy, a company registered in Finland (Business ID: 3449234-9), with registered address at Lapinlahdenkatu 16, 00180 Helsinki, Finland.

We are the data controller for all personal data collected through this website and the Kompanion application. For data protection matters, contact us at team@kanslo.com.

What we collect and why

Waitlist registration

When you join the early access waitlist, we collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your name or callsign. We use this solely to notify you about Kompanion's launch and send occasional pre-launch transmissions. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you give when you submit the form.

Game application (upon launch)

When you use the Kompanion application, we collect the following categories of data:

• Account data — email address, chosen callsign, and account credentials.
• Screen time data — daily app usage durations, sourced from your device's Screen Time (iOS) or Digital Wellbeing (Android) APIs, with your explicit permission.
• Biometric and health-adjacent data — heart rate variability (HRV), sleep duration, and recovery scores sourced from Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect, with your explicit permission. This constitutes health data under GDPR Art. 9 and is processed only with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)).
• Gameplay data — in-game progress, session timestamps, and feature interactions, used to operate the game and improve it.
• Device data — device type, OS version, and crash logs, used for technical support.

Legal bases for processing

We rely on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6 and, where applicable, Article 9:

• Consent — for marketing communications, biometric data, and health data. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
• Contract performance — to operate the game and your account once you have registered.
• Legitimate interests — for fraud prevention, security, and improving service quality, where these do not override your rights.

How long we keep your data

• Waitlist emails — until you unsubscribe or request deletion, or 24 months from collection if no launch occurs, whichever is sooner.
• Account data — for the duration of your account, plus 30 days after deletion.
• Health and biometric data — 90 days rolling. Older data is automatically deleted.
• Crash logs and device data — 12 months.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We may share it with:

• Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting and database services operating under GDPR-compliant data processing agreements (DPAs) within the EU/EEA.
• Email delivery services — solely to send the messages you signed up for.
• Authorities — where required by Finnish or EU law.

Any processors we use are bound by DPAs. We do not transfer data outside the EU/EEA without appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses where required).

Age restrictions

Kompanion is intended for users aged 16 and over. Under Finnish law and GDPR, users under 16 require verifiable parental consent to create an account or provide personal data. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has registered without parental consent, contact us at team@kanslo.com and we will delete the data promptly.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Finnish data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances.
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent — at any time, for any processing based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email team@kanslo.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics that identify individual visitors. We may use a minimal session cookie for form functionality. The Kompanion application does not contain third-party advertising SDKs.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
